The other night I basically stayed up till four am and did the CRAZIEST time-suck ever. I spent the six hours I should have been blogging and editing photos and spent it making prints and shirts.
I know.
I am not a print or shirt maker. I am truly not. It is a skill beyond my capacity of skills. There must be a special section of the brain that needs extra oxygen and my brain doesn’t get enough and that is why I am not a print or shirt maker. BUT….I did crank out like thirty different design ideas. Some of them were epic fails….like throw them in the garbage disposal and grind them to a sludgy ooze kinda fails….but there were a few that I love and I can’t wait to make them for myself or my house!
I uploaded them all onto Society6 (that’s how this whole process got started….I was trying to figure out how to get you prints of my jellyfish art and my arrow art because SO many of you have been hounding me about getting prints of those!) so if you are interested, here are the prints and shirts that I made now. And I will let you know when the jellyfish and arrows become available! I can’t wait because this just feels like the biggest motivator to get painting more!
The first print is a fun blue and watery one that is perfect for a canvas print! It says that Love Colors Outside The Lines and isn’t that so freaking true?! I think this is the core of parenting! Sometimes I am very black & white, right & wrong, but when it comes to my tribe, I love them no matter what….no matter how hard or no matter how messy.
The second item is a fun shirt – I had to make it in a print too! I call it the Grid Shirt and it is my nine favorite things! Of course, I wanted to make personal items that reflected me so I put in the design nine little items : my house (I actually modeled it after our first house), little sneakers (for my boys or being on the go!), a camera (photos of course!), a mushroom (to represent my fungi – bahahaha!), a soft pretzel (my hips don’t lie), a mug (for mocha lattes!), a party hat (because you know me and my desire to throw all the parties!), a pair of scissors (crafters unite!) and lastly a hammer (DIY 4 Life!). I think I will do it in a print and hang it in my office
This is where it all began! This shirt was my first because I wanted to make a knock-off of Ana’s shirts (which by the way – those are so cute!) and wear it to tease her Hers are clean font-wise so I went with a fun yet slightly crazy hand written font of my favorites. She has lipstick – dude I have BACON.
Okay – this shirt came out of pure necessity. I was looking for a Boy Mama shirt online and had the hardest time! I just wanted something simple and clean yet looked like my boys had washed it themselves….with rocks See a need, fill a need people
The LAST SHIRTS are gonna only be available for a short time. They are Bower Power shirts. I know – how ridiculously egocentric.
Jeremy and I kinda want to document this time in our life and celebrate it because we know that more than likely his job situation will change in the next few years and we might not BOTH get to work from home and be around our little ones! So these limited-time-only items are things we wanted for ourselves and if you are a super fan (I know that some of you are!) and you want a shirt that we made for us then here are the ones we did….a design with all my favorite things in a ‘snowflake’ shape that actually says Bower Power Blog…
And one for Jeremy. I think this one is pretty obvious…..
Lastly there is one last print! AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE! This is definitely gonna go in my kid’s playroom. It’s SO them. And it’s ridiculously simple. It’s the Honk Vroom Beep print! Isn’t it oh-so-fun?!
Okay…so here is the link for all you super fans. I love you. I am obsessed with you. And mom, I might be getting you the hashtag shirt for Christmas
Oh and for full disclosure, I make about $2.20 off the sale of a t-shirt and between $2-$4 on prints so if you do purchase, I do make a wee bit off the sale. Also – right now Society6 is offering $15 off $100 purchase and free shipping Happy shopping!
