It’s a Saturday bonus post. Your gluten free avocado toast is practically a bacon egg and cheese biscuit now, huh?! Saturday bonus posts do that to me. Also…they remove calories from all mocha lattes. We should get on that.
Sooooooooo it’s my due date (!!!!) and I still got a little grower in my planter basket (aka still got a bun in the oven, a chicken wing in the fryer, a spud in the ground…..for those of you that don’t translate analogies easily….I’m still totally pregnant) so it’s kinda perfect to share this project. I had an old planter basket that I needed to either donate or spruce up and I knew that a little spray paint would go a long way in making it feel new again!
Since we are still working on our big Rust-Oleum project for a reader-turned-friend, we are throwing an online party celebrating all things Rust-Oleum hence Rust-Oleum Week. They didn’t pay me to post about these projects…we just freaking love their paints and stains and hundreds of other products so it sort of made perfect sense to share them now. Today’s project is a basket planter makeover. I got the planter at the thrift store ages ago and loved the size and price but it was dirty and it just needed something. I grabbed some Rust-Oleum spray paint and painters tape and got to work.
To lighten it up and cover up some of the stains, I wanted to apply the white spray paint first. That meant I needed to tape off any areas that needed to stay natural.
I gave it a good two coats of Rust-Oleum Universal white in gloss.
After it was dried, I applied more painters tape to cover the white stripes that I wanted to keep.
Then I sprayed Winter Gray on the other exposed areas to create the contrasting stripes.
One snake plant later and we are still preggo with a nice nautical feeling basket planter.
Fun right?!
